Clear Minds Clear Messages 2007 progresses with professional production of winning media messages created by local students.

The winners of the 2007 Clear Minds Clear Messages media campaign were announced at the Award Ceremony on May 10th at the Lincoln Middle School of the Syracuse City School District.  Since that time, the students have been working with local professionals to professional produce their entires into posters, billboards, radio announcements and television PSAs!  The computer graphic designer at Warne/McKenna Advertising has worked with the graphic illustration winners - the first step of production!  Lamar Outdoor Advertising has now ordered the billboard paper, and winning billboard designs will go up around the city on September 14, 2007.  93Q Radio has met with the students that won the radio category in their recording studio.  The radio PSAs will be played by local stations beginning mid-September.  Time Warner Cable has worked with students to professionally produce the winning television entries- 4 in all! The community posting of the winning media messsages makes the Clear Minds Clear Messages a year-long, community-wide media campaign that benefits the participating students and residents throughout Onondaga County.

2nd Annual Underage Drinking Summit, Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Driver's Village Conference Center.  The Thursday daytime  program will provide workshops and community planning opportunities for Central NY professionals.  The evening program is targeted for parents and youth.  Brought to you as a collaboration between Prevention Network, SODAAC, and OCM BOCES.  For a Registration Brochure call this office at 701-4950 or Prevention Network at 471-1359.
 
Previous Happenings:
 
The Central New York Methamphetamine Prevention Program, established through a collaborative effort of this community anti-drug coalition, the New York State Police and the U. S. Attorney's Office, N.D.N.Y., continue their efforts to implement the developed methamphetamine prevention strategy plan.  Current activities include the support of and assistance with the development of the Southern Tier Methamphetamine Prevention Coalition and the local implementation of the MethWatch program for business awareness developed by the state of Kansas.  Dr. Ellen Vachon, a certified OASAS instructor and the Director of the Southern Tier coalition, will present at the September 20, 2006 CNY Methamphetaime Prevention Program meeting.
 
The 2006 Fall edition of the SOBAD (Syracuse/Onondaga Businesses Against Drugs) Newsletter will be published and distributed mid-September.  The newsletter will include articles of businesses involvement with methamphetamine prevention, underage drinking, and this coalition's implementation of the best practice "Communities Mobilizing For Change on Alcohol" program.
